Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains what LabelGrid (labelgrid.org) handles when you design and print labels with it. The short version: your label text, address lists and files stay in your browser, the site sets no cookies, and we keep only anonymous page statistics.
Your labels, lists and files stay in your browser
The label maker runs entirely on your device. The text you type, the names and addresses you paste from a spreadsheet, any file you open, the live preview and the PDF you download are all produced by JavaScript in your browser. None of it is uploaded to our servers or sent to anyone. Close the tab and it is gone, unless you saved the PDF or chose to keep settings on your device (see below).
If you click "Copy share link", the link you copy contains the sheet code, the label text you typed and the layout options, so whoever opens it sees that text. The link only goes where you send it, and pasted mailing lists are never put in it.
Anonymous usage statistics (no cookies)
When a page loads, a small first-party script records one event with: the site name, the page path, the referring page (origin and path only, no query
string), the event type (page view, label tool used, Pro interest, Pro list sign-up or checkout click), a timestamp and a random visit identifier. The
visit identifier is generated in your browser and kept in session storage under the key mf-v (not a cookie); it changes every day and
disappears when you close the tab, and it only lets us count distinct visits. No label text, list contents, name, e-mail or device identifier is part of
these events. They are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, operated by Google as our processor, and are used only to learn which pages are useful. Like any
web request, the connection exposes your IP address to the hosting and storage providers; we do not store it in the events.
There are no third-party trackers, advertising scripts, social widgets or embedded fonts from other servers on this site.
Pro early-access list
Pro is not on sale yet. If you reserve the founder price, we store the e-mail address you enter, your optional answers (what would make Pro worth it and what you would pay), the site name, a timestamp and the random visit identifier, in Google Cloud Firestore. We use the address for one purpose: to e-mail you once when Pro opens, with the founder price. No payment is taken, there is no newsletter, and we do not sell or share the list. To be removed, write to us through the contact page.
What is stored on your device
mf-theme(local storage): your light or dark choice, only if you use the theme switch.mf-v(session storage): the daily random visit identifier described above.-
pro,pro_session,pro_since(local storage): written only after a Pro purchase, so Pro stays unlocked in that browser. -
lg-designsandlg-offset(local storage): your saved designs (sheet, label text, layout and, if a design has one, its logo image; never a pasted list) and printer calibration, written only when you save them, so they are there next time you print on this device. - The browser's offline cache: the home page, the label maker and the files they need, so the tool opens quickly and keeps working on a weak connection.
You can remove all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Hosting
The site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice that is limited to an e-mail address on the Pro list and, once Pro is on sale, purchase and support records. Write to us through the contact page and we will answer within 30 days.
Children
The site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Related documents and changes
The rules for using the site are in the terms of use, what Pro will include is on the pricing page, and who runs the site is on the about page. If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
