The best sheet for asset tag labels
Numbered asset tags for laptops, tools and equipment: owner, asset number and contact. Avery 6570 puts 32 labels on one US Letter sheet in 4 columns and 8 rows, which is why it is the default for asset tag labels here.
Each label is 1 3/4″ (44.4 mm) wide and 1 1/4″ (31.7 mm) tall, with a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) top margin and a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the first sample row, “Property of Fox Garden Supply”, has 29 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 6 lines of 21 characters, at 8 pt about 7 lines of 27.
Compared with 6570: Avery 5167 has 40 % of the label area and 80 instead of 32 labels per sheet and Avery 5160 has 1.2× the label area and 30 instead of 32 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your assets need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing asset tag labels
- Number assets in sequence from a spreadsheet column; serial numbering is part of Pro.
- Paper labels on laptops wear quickly; cover with clear tape or use polyester label stock.
- Put a return phone number on tags for portable equipment.
- Keep the asset list and the labels from the same spreadsheet so numbers never drift.
How many sheets for your assets
One label per asset. For 100 assets on Avery 6570 you need 4 sheets and 28 labels stay blank for next time (use the start position to skip them later).

Frequently asked questions
What size are asset tag labels?
LabelGrid's default for asset tag labels is 1 1/4″ × 1 3/4″ (Avery 6570, 32 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5167 at 1/2″ × 1 3/4″ and Avery 5160 at 1″ × 2 5/8″.
How many asset tag labels fit on one sheet?
32 on Avery 6570, 80 on Avery 5167 and 30 on Avery 5160. For 500 assets at 1 label each you need 16 sheets of Avery 6570.
Can I print asset tag labels from a spreadsheet list?
Yes. Switch the designer to merge mode, paste your rows with a header (Asset) and each row becomes one label; placeholders like {Asset} pull the values in. The free version prints one full sheet per list.
Why do my asset tag labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
