The best sheet for candle labels
Labels for handmade candles: scent name on the front, warnings and weight on the bottom or back. Avery 5294 puts 12 labels on one US Letter sheet in 3 columns and 4 rows, which is why it is the default for candle labels here.
Each label is 2 1/2″ (63.5 mm) wide and 2 1/2″ (63.5 mm) tall (round), with a 7/16″ (11.1 mm) top margin and a 1/4″ (6.4 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the preset, “Soy wax · 8 oz”, has 14 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 9 lines of 23 characters, at 8 pt about 12 lines of 29.
Compared with 5294: OnlineLabels OL3016 has 64 % of the label area and the same count per sheet, Avery 5163 has 1.3× the label area and 10 instead of 12 labels per sheet and Avery 5160 has 42 % of the label area and 30 instead of 12 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your candles need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing candle labels
- Consider two labels per candle: a front label for the scent and a bottom label for safety warnings and the weight.
- Check which warnings your market expects on candles; in the US, the ASTM F2058 standard covers candle fire-safety labelling.
- Keep labels away from the top rim of the jar, where heat builds up.
- Matte kraft-look designs suggest handmade; glossy white suggests modern and clean.

Frequently asked questions
What size are candle labels?
LabelGrid's default for candle labels is 2 1/2″ round (Avery 5294, 12 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: OnlineLabels OL3016 at 2″ × 2″, Avery 5163 at 2″ × 4″ and Avery 5160 at 1″ × 2 5/8″.
How many candle labels fit on one sheet?
12 on Avery 5294, 12 on OnlineLabels OL3016, 10 on Avery 5163 and 30 on Avery 5160. For 60 candles at 2 labels each you need 10 sheets of Avery 5294.
Can every label on the sheet be different?
Yes. The preset repeats one design on every label, which suits candle labels. For different text on each label, switch to merge mode and paste one row per label; the free version prints one full sheet per list.
Why do my candle labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
