The best sheet for soap labels
Labels and bands for handmade soap bars and bottles: product name, weight and ingredients. OnlineLabels OL9810 puts 10 labels on one US Letter sheet in 2 columns and 5 rows, which is why it is the default for soap labels here.
Each label is 3 15/16″ (100 mm) wide and 1 15/16″ (49.2 mm) tall (oval), with a 0.531″ (13.5 mm) top margin and a 0.281″ (7.1 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the preset, “Cold-process soap · 4 oz”, has 24 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 7 lines of 38 characters, at 8 pt about 9 lines of 48.
Compared with OL9810: Avery 5163 has 1× the label area and the same count per sheet and Avery 5160 has 34 % of the label area and 30 instead of 10 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your bars need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing soap labels
- Soap sold as cosmetics has different labelling rules from true soap in some markets; check the rules where you sell.
- List the net weight on the label: buyers compare bars by weight.
- Wrapped bars take labels better than bare bars; label the wrapper, not the soap.
- Print ingredient labels in merge mode from a list when each scent has different ingredients.
How many sheets for your bars
One label per bar. For 60 bars on OnlineLabels OL9810 you need 6 sheets, with no label left over.

Frequently asked questions
What size are soap labels?
LabelGrid's default for soap labels is 1 15/16″ × 3 15/16″ (OnlineLabels OL9810, 10 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5163 at 2″ × 4″ and Avery 5160 at 1″ × 2 5/8″.
How many soap labels fit on one sheet?
10 on OnlineLabels OL9810, 10 on Avery 5163 and 30 on Avery 5160. For 120 bars at 1 label each you need 12 sheets of OnlineLabels OL9810.
Can every label on the sheet be different?
Yes. The preset repeats one design on every label, which suits soap labels. For different text on each label, switch to merge mode and paste one row per label; the free version prints one full sheet per list.
Why do my soap labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
