The best sheet for mason jar labels
Lid and side labels for Mason jars: canning, dry goods, gifts and storage, sized for regular and wide-mouth lids. OnlineLabels OL5375 puts 20 labels on one US Letter sheet in 4 columns and 5 rows, which is why it is the default for mason jar labels here.
Each label is 2″ (50.8 mm) wide and 2″ (50.8 mm) tall (round), with a 3/8″ (9.5 mm) top margin and a 0.156″ (4 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the preset, “Strawberry Jam”, has 14 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 7 lines of 18 characters, at 8 pt about 9 lines of 23.
Compared with OL5375: Avery 5294 has 1.6× the label area and 12 instead of 20 labels per sheet, Avery 5163 has 2× the label area and 10 instead of 20 labels per sheet and OnlineLabels OL3016 has the same label area and 12 instead of 20 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your jars need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing mason jar labels
- Approximate lid sizes: regular-mouth lids are about 2 3/4″ across and wide-mouth lids about 3 3/8″, so a 2″ round sits inside a regular lid's flat area. Measure your own lids before printing a batch.
- Lid labels are easy to swap; side labels on glass are harder to remove, so put the date on the lid.
- Paper labels do not survive a boiling-water bath: label jars after canning, once they are cool and dry.
- Dissolvable or removable label stock is worth it for jars you reuse every season.
How many sheets for your jars
One label per jar. For 24 jars on OnlineLabels OL5375 you need 2 sheets and 16 labels stay blank for next time (use the start position to skip them later).

Frequently asked questions
What size are mason jar labels?
LabelGrid's default for mason jar labels is 2″ round (OnlineLabels OL5375, 20 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5294 at 2 1/2″ round, Avery 5163 at 2″ × 4″ and OnlineLabels OL3016 at 2″ × 2″.
How many mason jar labels fit on one sheet?
20 on OnlineLabels OL5375, 12 on Avery 5294, 10 on Avery 5163 and 12 on OnlineLabels OL3016. For 48 jars at 1 label each you need 3 sheets of OnlineLabels OL5375.
Can every label on the sheet be different?
Yes. The preset repeats one design on every label, which suits mason jar labels. For different text on each label, switch to merge mode and paste one row per label; the free version prints one full sheet per list.
Why do my mason jar labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
