The best sheet for Valentine's Day labels
Labels for class Valentine exchanges, candy bags and cards: one label per classmate, printed from a name list. Avery 8160 puts 30 labels on one US Letter sheet in 3 columns and 10 rows, which is why it is the default for Valentine's Day labels here.
Each label is 2 5/8″ (66.7 mm) wide and 1″ (25.4 mm) tall, with a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) top margin and a 3/16″ (4.8 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the preset, “Happy Valentine's Day”, has 21 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 5 lines of 36 characters, at 8 pt about 6 lines of 45.
Compared with 8160: Avery 5160 has the same label area and the same count per sheet, Avery 5293 has the same label area and 24 instead of 30 labels per sheet and OnlineLabels OL5375 has 1.5× the label area and 20 instead of 30 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your classmates need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing Valentine's Day labels
- Many classes ask for a card for every child: paste the class list once and every label gets one name, so nobody is left out.
- Pink and red together vibrate on screen and in print; use one of them as the accent and keep the text dark.
- A 30-up sheet covers a class list of up to 30 names in one pass; print a second sheet for teachers and siblings.
- Let young kids sign each card by hand next to the label: it keeps the personal touch.
Print plan: Valentine's Day labels for 25 to 150 classmates
For 100 classmates you need 4 sheets of 8160, with 20 labels left for next time. 150 classmates fill whole 8160 sheets exactly. The plain-paper test costs no label sheet, so print it first.
| Classmates | 8160 sheets (30/sheet) | Labels left over | Or 5293 sheets (24/sheet) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 classmates | 1 | 5 | 2 |
| 50 classmates | 2 | 10 | 3 |
| 100 classmates | 4 | 20 | 5 |
| 150 classmates | 5 | 0 | 7 |

Frequently asked questions
How do I print the Avery® 8160 Valentine template?
Edit the pre-filled dotted-border design in the designer at the top of this page, download the PDF and print it at 100 % scale on US Letter Avery® 8160 or 5160 sheets. Print one plain-paper test first and hold it against a label sheet.
What size are Valentine's Day labels?
LabelGrid's default for Valentine's Day labels is 1″ × 2 5/8″ (Avery 8160, 30 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5160 at 1″ × 2 5/8″ (same size, different code), Avery 5293 at 1 5/8″ round and OnlineLabels OL5375 at 2″ round.
How many Valentine's Day labels fit on one sheet?
30 on Avery 8160, 30 on Avery 5160, 24 on Avery 5293 and 20 on OnlineLabels OL5375. For 30 classmates at 1 label each you need 1 sheet of Avery 8160.
Can every label on the sheet be different?
Yes. The preset repeats one design on every label, which suits Valentine's Day labels. For different text on each label, switch to merge mode and paste one row per label; the free version prints one full sheet per list.
When is Valentine's Day?
The next Valentine's Day after this page's data date (October 24, 2026) is Sunday, February 14, 2027. Print a test sheet a few days before you need the classmates, and check your postal service for mailing dates if you send them.
Why do my Valentine's Day labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
